Capt. John has a lifetime of fishing knowledge and over 20 years of experience fishing the gulf coast. “I have enjoyed fishing all my life. While living in the Midwest, I fished Kentucky & Barkley Lake for years along with the Ohio River and many local waterways.
My first passion was bass fishing but now I’ve got salt in my blood. I have over 45 years of fishing knowledge with inshore fishing and have been guiding for the past 15 years. I was in the Marines and after that I decided to start a career and became an inshore fishing captain.
The excitement of saltwater fishing is like nothing else. Hooking into monster Snook and pulling him out of the mangroves is a thrill you just have to experience. Or how about stalking redfish on the flats and sight casting to one watching him take your bait and setting the hook and hearing your drag scream like it’s going to end.
Fishing is my life, and I enjoy seeing my clients hook up on fish just as much as if I caught them myself. Depending upon what time of year it is, there is always some type of fish to be caught in our area. Saltwater fishing is so exciting, because you never know what you’re going to hook up with. My first saltwater fish was a 30lb Bull Red fish, and after that I WAS HOOKED!
I look forward to meeting you and showing you how spectacular our fishery can be. Well, what are you waiting for?
My 2015 Triton is a fishing machine, I can ease into the shallow water flats in search of specks and reds, spanish mackerel, bluefish and much more. Whatever type of fishing you prefer artificial or live bait. My style of fishing is very similar to bass fishing, but you’re catching saltwater species!
I added a Power-Pole to the boat. I had one on my last boat and this has revolutionized my shallow water fishing. We can hold up on a spot and work an area thoroughly to catch quality fish. To read more about this new addition to my rig, check out their website at www.powerpole.com
With a beam of 9ft in width and a length of 24 ft, I can fish up to four people comfortably. I also have state of the art electronics for locating fish, and also have a Wireless 113 lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor for easing up in the shallows to hook up on Snook, Redfish and Speckled Trout. If Tarpon is on your bucket list we can do that too. ( Tarpon fishing is seasonal, just give me a ring and we can talk about what’s biting the month your wanting to book your Clearwater, Tampa Bay or St. Petersburg vacation
The workhorse of the boat is my 250 hp – 4stroke Mercury Verado. It has enough power to cruise at a steady 40mph with four fishermen plus myself and a full load of tackle, but if needed, the boat can fly across the bay at 50+mph. If bad weather moves in, we can get off the water safely and quickly. The real treat of this motor is how quiet it is, and it does not give off any fumes.
The design of my boat can handle a chop, so if the bay gets bumpy you will never feel it.
On my trips, you never half to worry about getting sea sick, we stay in calm waters and still catch big fish and have a fun day on the water!
