What a great year of fishing in 2017! Lots of Snook, Reds, Trout, Sheepshead, and Spanish; you name it; we hooked it. I had a lot of fun trips in 2017 and I hope 2018 brings the same. With that said, I’ve not been out for a while due to a car wreck I had on December 11, 2017.
I’ll be off the water for the next month or two healing, I’m not sure how long just yet.
Hopefully I’ll be back out in March. I have been in contact with a few captain friends of mine to let me know what’s going on. I can’t say it enough, I miss being out on the water!
Let’s talk fishing; the trout bite has been outstanding on an outgoing tide. Shrimp, white bait and artificials; they are chewing it all. Snook are still on the flats some, but a lot have made their way to their winter homes. We’re supposed to get another major cold front next weekend starting out 2018 and we need it. We had a great cold front two weeks ago, but since then it got warm again and pushed some of the fish out of the rivers and back out on the flats. So I hope that we get cold and stay cold. This will help the fish to stage up on their winter spots better.
Let’s talk redfish for a minute, they too have been pretty good on oyster bars and deep holes on docks. The bite has been pretty good on an outgoing tide.
Since I’m taking off the next two months and I’m not going to be fishing, if you’re looking for an inshore fishing trip, send me a text or call and I’ll put you in contact with a few fellow captain friends of mine that are very good and are on a good bite.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a Happy New Year.
